Irish counterfeit CD seller jailed

Dublin man Thomas Ward has been jailed for a year for selling counterfeit CDs and DVDs, a case IRMA says sends a strong warning.

The Irish Recorded Music Association scored a court win in Dublin last week when a man who had been caught selling counterfeit CDs and DVDs in 2005 was jailed for a year. Thomas Ward of Dublin was caught selling 112 bootleg CDs out of his car back in June 2005. Welcoming the strict sentencing for Ward's crime, IRMA Director General Dick Doyle told reporters: "We are delighted with this sentence. This sends out a strong warning to anyone involved in illegal counterfeiting and CD selling".
