Isis

Isis are back in the studio recording their fifth album, the follow-up to 2006's 'In The Absence Of Truth', as the writer praises their dynamic shifts.

I have a weird relationship with Isis. When I listen to them, I listen to them almost obsessively for weeks at a time. There's something about their songs that drags me in and takes hold of me. And I am completely unable to resist. I think it's something to do with the way they play with dynamics, moving between beautiful ambient post-rock to dense, roof-lifting, doomy metal. There are many others like them, but no others quite do it the way Isis do. So, it's very good news that they're back in the studio working on their fifth album, the follow-up to 2006's fantastic 'In The Absence Of Truth'. If you've not yet had the Isis experience, check out their MySpace right now.
