Jack White to take break from Stripes

Jack White is taking a break from The White Stripes to work on The Raconteurs with Brendan Benson, with an album expected in 2006.

Jack White is to take a break from The White Stripes to focus on that new project he's working on with Brendan Benson. The pair, calling themselves The Raconteurs, have already started work on an album, which they expect to release in 2006.

White told Rolling Stone magazine: "I don't want it to sound anything like the White Stripes, this is a full-on band - dual songwriters coming together, building off one another, bouncing off each other." Speaking about their unorthodox style of recording, Benson added: "We each went into separate rooms. He wrote a section, and I wrote a section. We didn't talk about it, we just did it, and it worked out beautifully."
