Michael Jackson's attempt to get an injunction to stop Granada from screening any other footage filmed by Martin Bashir will get its first hearing in the high court today. Jacko claims as part of the deal with Granada he was promised he would get copyright to any footage filmed. Granada, despite saying they have no intention of screening any other Jacko footage, say such an agreement was never made and have refused to hand over any film.
It will be the first stage in what will no doubt be a long dispute between Jackson and the TV company. Responding to the documentary Jacko commissioned for Fox TV to counteract the Bashir show, Granada said the second programme was just a collection of "out-of-context soundbites". Standing by Bashir's film the company said it would "vigorously resist" Jackson's legal challenge.
