Michael Jackson has apologised after outrage over an incident in which he dangled his young son over a hotel balcony in Berlin.

Michael Jackson has apologised after the public and media outrage that followed an incident in Berlin where the star dangling his youngest child over the fourth-floor balcony of his hotel. Prince Michael II had a white cloth over his head as Jackson, holding the child with one arm around his waist, held him out over the iron railing of the balcony at the Adlon Hotel. Jackson seemed to think the crowds shouts were cheers - in fact they were the sound of a shocked audience telling him get his child back inside.

As people responded to the images of Jackon's dangling baby, the Chicago based Prevent Child Abuse America told reporters: "It is a painful reminder that even the most well-intentioned among us sometimes act in ways that put children in danger of being abused or neglected."

Jackson has subsequently told reporters: "I made a terrible mistake. I got caught up in the excitement of the moment. I would never intentionally endanger the lives of my children."
