James Brown and wife Tomi Rea split

James Brown and his wife Tomi Rea Brown have split, citing demanding touring, announcing it in a full-page advert in Variety.

James Brown and his wife Tomi Rea Brown have broken up due to a "demanding touring schedule".

Brown took out a full-page ad in 'Variety' with a photo of the couple and their two-year-old son, James Brown II, posing with Goofy at Disney World. A statement read: "because of demanding touring they have decided to go their separate ways. There are no hard feelings, just a mutual show business decision made by both parties."

Tomi Rea is one of Brown's background singers. The pair have said that despite the breakup, they may continue working together. Brown's previous wife, Adrienne, died in 1996 after undergoing plastic surgery.
