Jason Flom confirmed as new Virgin US boss

EMI has confirmed former Warners executive Jason Flom as head of Virgin Records US, replacing Matt Serletic, who left the label last week.

As expected, the EMI Group have confirmed that former Warners exec Jason Flom will take over the top job at Virgin Records US, a post left vacant after the departure of Matt Serletic from the label last week. Flom will take over the New York based role immediately (today probably), reporting to EMI North America boss David Munns.

Munns confirmed the appointment on Friday night, telling reporters: "Jason Flom has a rare and unique combination of A&R skills, charismatic leadership and drive to take Virgin to the next level. We are fortunate to have one of the industry's most talented music executives lead Virgin. We're delighted he has joined the EMI family."

EMI Music boss Alain Levy added: "We are fortunate to have Jason Flom join EMI. I have followed Jason's career over the years and have always admired his leadership skills as well as his ability to discover and nurture talent. Not only will he greatly contribute to Virgin's future; he will also have a tremendous impact on EMI's worldwide endeavors."

Flom himself added: "Alain and David are visionaries who consistently demonstrate a talent for discovering and nurturing some of the industry's most successful artists. I'm honored to join their team and take on the pivotal role of leading Virgin, a label whose legacy is synonymous with dynamic and groundbreaking music."
