Jerry Lee Lewis's house closed to the public

Jerry Lee Lewis's Mississippi home has closed to tourists following his divorce from sixth wife Kerrie McCarver Lewis, though visitors can still drive past.

If you were planning to take in Jerry Lee Lewis's house on your tour of Mississippi this summer, then I'm afraid we have disappointing news. The fifteen room home, which has been a popular tourist attraction for more than a decade, has been closed to the public following the star's lengthy divorce proceedings with sixth wife Kerrie McCarver Lewis. Lewis's daughter Phoebe said: "This is a private residence now. We don't plan to open it back up."

The house was first opened for tours when Kerrie McCarver Lewis was managing the Jerry Lee Lewis fan club. She doesn't manage the fan club any longer, presumably because she's no longer a fan, if the fact of the divorce settlement is anything to go by. However, there is some good news - you can still drive past and gawk. Kim Terrell from the local Tourism Association said "They've [tourists] heard a lot about the piano-shaped swimming pool and his antique car collection. They can still drive by and see it."
