Rock Action Records is an established Scottish independent record label based in Glasgow, Scotland with global distribution that is currently home to artists such as Mogwai, Arab Strap, The Twilight Sad, bdrmm, Kathryn Joseph, Sacred Paws, Cloth and many more.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, creative and reliable self-starter to provide support to label management.
Role Description
The role is wide ranging in scope and requires involvement with the key administrative, creative and promotional aspects of releasing music.
The main purpose is to provide support to label management and artists across a range of day to day tasks while also assisting in the planning, execution and delivery of scheduled releases and maintaining awareness of back catalogue. This means that the position calls for someone who is flexible and adaptable when it comes to skillset with an organised approach to time management.
Along with assisting with day to day administrative tasks the position also involves a key focus on the maintainance and growth of the label D2C platforms and contributing support to upcoming label release plans so an interest and knowledge of marketing is important.

Rock Action is an independent label with a small staff who work alongside award winning, industry leading external freelancers across the press, publicity, radio and digital marketing sectors to manage and execute bespoke campaigns for our artists in both the UK and international markets. This means the role is a multi-disciplined position that requires an adaptable approach along with a professional, efficient can-do mentality.
Attention to detail combined with a willingness to work efficiently and effectively to instruction both an individual and team member is important to the role.
Who You Are
We are looking for someone who is both adaptable and has active, demonstrable interests in the music industry on both a local and national level.
Competencies/Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
- Proficiency with Excel, data entry and metadata processing.
- E-commerce with specific knowledge of Shopify, Bandcamp etc.
- Familiarity with digital platforms such as BandsInTown, SongKick etc.
- Copywriting skills.
- Design (Photoshop, Final Cut Pro etc).
- Awareness of branding, digital marketing, social media content creation and analytics.
- Budgeting.
- Events/events management.
- Strong communication skills.

What the role includes
- Assisting and supporting label management and artists on all upcoming releases.
- Managing, maintaining growth of label online store.
- Maintaining and promoting label catalogue.
- Creating and maintaining promotional databases including press, radio and sync.
- Assisting with MCPS/PPL/VPL registrations where necessary.
- Sorting and logging audio files.
- Preparing label copy.
- Assisting an established team across various channels to provide and execute digital strategies including label website with additional focus on DSP and Social Media platforms.
- Providing assistance and support to artists where required and periodically overseeing events such as label fairs and Artist instore/outstores.
- Attending gigs and providing reporting/feedback.
- You will provide front facing support and engagement dealing with relevant enquiries across social platforms along with inward-bound email and A&R requests.
Skills and Experience
- A clean, current driving license is desirable.
