Role: Vacancy in the Copyright team to join as either a Snr Copyright Assistant or Copyright Manager dependent on the level of experience of the successful candidate.
Start Date: Preferable from start of October 2024 with flexibility to start later for the right candidate
Reporting to: Head of Copyright
Working Hours: 10am-6pm
Location: Kennington Lane, London (with flexibility to work remotely when appropriate)

About the role:

Sitting within the Copyright team at Ninja Tune, Just Isn’t Music and Ninja Tune Production Music, you will be responsible for recording and composition registrations at various domestic and international rights societies, along with maintaining copyright data in our internal systems. The successful candidate will be required to have significant proven experience in completing registrations for labels and/or publishing companies at PPL and PRS, respectively), as this will be a
core element of the role.

Tasks to include:

  • Registrations for both the label and publishing company (PPL/PRS)
  • Mechanical Licence submissions for Ninja Tune and subs labels
  • Research, investigation and review work on splits/ metadata and PRO reports/ statements
  • Coordinating sub publisher copyright updates
  • Updating and maintaining internal copyright and metadata systems
  • Other ad hoc copyright and publishing work
    In addition, you will be responsible for researching copyright data for new music and updating/auditing our internal copyright systems including:
  • Curve (publishing royalties software)
  • File Maker (database software)

About you:

  • Essential: You will have substantial proven experience of copyright work, including solid experience of both the PRS and PPL
  • Passionate about music with previous music industry experience, preferably within copyright, sync and or publishing.
  • Excellent organisational skills with ability to keep calm under pressure.
  • Efficient, with excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise own workload and manage multiple tasks at once.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to learn efficiently with the ability to use your own initiative when problem solving.
  • Hard working, enthusiastic, ambitious and proactive.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to deal with people politely at all levels.
  • IT Literate – You will be a highly competent user of Excel with a good understanding of all Microsoft office packages (Word, Outlook etc). You will ideally have Google admin suit experience as well.

Prior Experience

  • Knowledge of basic copyright principles
  • Knowledge of MCPS and other international collection societies (other than PRS & PPL which are required)
  • Prior experience of the systems mentioned
  • Prior experience within the music industry
