Kaiser Chiefs' Ricky Wilson says the band's songs are darker than their cheery image

Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson says he is annoyed by the band's cheery reputation, insisting their songs draw on bitterness and a darker side.

Chief Kaiser Ricky Wilson says he's annoyed that his group has such a reputation for cheeriness, and insists that most of the band's songs are inspired by bad shit. He reckons we should all look deeper into the lyrics, saying, "There's a lot more of a dark side that fuels our song-writing. It's full of bitterness. 'Modern Way' sounds uplifting and triumphant, but it's about the bitterness always underlying. And 'Everyday I Love You Less And Less' - that sounds really pissed off."
