Keith Wozencroft extends remit to take in Virgin Music UK

Keith Wozencroft, president of Capitol Music UK, has had his remit extended to Virgin Music, taking over from Phillip Ascoli, who left earlier this year.

Well, Billboard is reporting that the president of Capitol Music UK has extended his remit, which came as a surprise because I didn't know there was any such thing as Capitol Music UK - Capitol being the EMI Group's US record company. But having checked EMI Music UK & Ireland's website, it turns out that's what they now call the bit of EMI Music UK that consists of EMI Records and Parlophone, and apparently they've been doing that for some time. So there you go. I've learned something new today.

Anyway, that's not the story here. Keith Wozencroft, the boss of Capitol Music UK, has had his remit extended to cover that other big bit of EMI Music UK - Virgin Music. He essentially takes over from former Virgin Music UK MD Phillip Ascoli, who left earlier this year, although a new MD for Virgin is still expected to be appointed who will report to Wozencroft in much the same way that EMI Records MD Terry Felgate and Parlophone MD Miles Leonard do already. Wozencroft will report to EMI Music UK chairman Tony Wadsworth.

So that's all that cleared up.
