Kele makes more enemies

Bloc Party's Kele Okereke has criticised Pete Doherty, arguing that his drug use and rejection of a traditional lifestyle make people wrongly think his art is more relevant.

That Kele Okereke out of Bloc Party has been speaking out about another music type, this time one Pete Doherty. Sometimes I think he should be a bit more careful about what he's saying, but I also usually agree with him, which is a bit of a dilemma.

Anyway, asked artists needed to suffer in order to create, Okereke responded: "That is something that has been misunderstood in recent times, and has led to really cliched behaviour. Someone like Pete Doherty - his drug-taking and refusal to adhere to a traditional lifestyle - makes people thing that his art is somehow more relevant because he's a fuck-up. It's easier to be a misfit or a dropout than it is to be a genius and actually create something."
