Klaxons don't like glowsticks

Klaxons' Jamie Reynolds has told Popworld magazine the band oppose glowsticks at their gigs and says the 'new rave' label was a joke at the media's expense.

Talking of Klaxons, as we were, they've been vocal in their opposition to Glowsticks in an interview with the Popworld Pulp magazine. The band's Jamie Reynolds is quoted as saying: "There's a general lack of glowsticks [in Europe]. It's nice to prove it's possible to have excitement without them. We're considering trying to find someone with an injury. If anyone's been injured by a glowstick they can get in contact with us and help our cause to get them banned from our gigs."

On a marginally more serious note, Reynolds says he's fed up of being asked about the 'new rave' genre his band has supposedly spearheaded. "We kept getting asked to explain it," he says, "and it's like, 'Look, the whole idea of new rave was to take the piss out of the media by making them talk about something that didn't exist, just for our own amusement.' And they'd say, 'I appreciate that, but can you tell me more about new rave?'"
