Korean government may investigate Apple's flash supply

South Korean Fair Trade Commission chairman Kang Chul-kyu is considering an investigation into a reported favourable flash memory deal between Samsung and Apple, after complaints from rivals.

Talking of Apple, we hear that regulatory authorities in Korea might launch an investigation into a deal between Korean electronics giant Samsung and Apple relating to the sale by the former of flash memory (used in iPod shuffles) to the latter. Reports suggest that Samsung gave Apple an especially good deal on the memory - a deal not available to other companies making MP3 players. If true that could be against the country's strict anti-competitive laws. Apparently South Korean Fair Trade Commission chairman Kang Chul-kyu has told CBS Radio he is currently considering an investigation following complaints by Apple's competitors.
