Libertines have not split, and here's the Dirty Pretty Things to prove it

The Libertines' manager Alan McGee says the band has not split while Pete Doherty receives treatment, and the rest of the band will launch the Dirty Pretty Things club night in London.

The Libertines have not, repeat, have not split up. Though they are in something of a hiatus while frontman Pete Doherty receives rehab treatment in France.

The band's manager Alan McGee issued the following statement on Friday: "The band is not splitting up but I agree these are not happy times. Peter is in a hospital and is getting treatment. His mum is constantly with him at present and she has been brilliant. We are all really concerned about Peter as anybody would be about somebody they cared about. He is truly in really good medical hands so please stop the rumours. At the moment it's day to day as we are trying to get Peter well."

The rest of the band have said they will go ahead and launch their new club night 'Dirty Pretty Things' at the Infinity in Old Burlington Street tonight. Fellow frontman Carl Barat and the band's current producer, former Clash man Mick Jones, will both DJ. Doors open 10.30pm, tickets are £8.

However the band are yet to decide whether or not they will be able to perform their planned sets at this year's Glastonbury and Isle of Wight festivals.
