Lil Wayne appears in court

Lil Wayne has pleaded not guilty to a weapons charge in New York and also faces drugs and weapons charges in Arizona.

US rapper Lil Wayne has appeared in court in New York for an arraignment hearing, and has entered a plea of not guilty in relation to those previously reported gun charges, incurred last July. The hip hop star, real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr, faces charges of criminal possession of a weapon relating to the 2007 incident which followed a performance alongside Ja Rule at the Beacon Theatre in Manhattan. If convicted, he could serve up to three and a half years, due to the city's gun laws.

As also previously reported, this isn't the only trouble Carter has to deal with at the moment. The Louisiana rap star is facing drugs and weapons charges in Arizona, where border patrols stopped his tour bus last month and discovered various narcotics and associated paraphernalia plus a 40-caliber pistol.
