Lil Wayne sued over Stones copy

Abkco Music is suing Lil Wayne, his collaborators and Universal Music Group for copyright infringement over a track it says copies The Rolling Stones' Play With Fire.

Lil Wayne is being sued for copying The Rolling Stones song 'Play With Fire'. Abkco Music Inc, who own the rights to the song, are accusing the rapper, his artistic collaborators and Universal Music Group of copyright infringement and unfair competition. The company says that the Lil Wayne track in question, 'Playing With Fire', is a clear derivative of the Rolling Stones track with the original music and lyrics altered in a recognisable way. They also said that Lil Wayne's version used "explicit, sexist and offensive language" which listeners may have believed The Rolling Stones approved of.
