Livingstone says free Trafalgar Square gig was a success

Ken Livingstone says a free London concert in Trafalgar Square featuring David Gray, Morcheeba and Nitin Sawhney was a success, and promises more concerts each year.

Ken Livingstone has been waxing lyrical about the free gig he hosted in London's Trafalger Square this weekend – a joint bid to launch the revamped Sqaure and to reinvigorate central London's tourist industry. The free event saw David Gray, Morcheeba and Nitin Sawhney all take to the stage.

After the event Livingstone told reporters: "The first live concert with David Gray, Morcheeba and Nitin Sawhney was a spectacular success. Trafalgar Square is a square for Londoners and visitors to the capital, and we will be holding live concerts throughout the year, every year."
