Marc Bolan bust unveiled on 25th anniversary of his death

A life-sized bronze bust of Marc Bolan has been unveiled in Barnes on the 25th anniversary of his death, commissioned by the T Rex Action Group.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the death of Marc Bolan today a life sized bronze bust of the glam rock star has been unveiled just yards from where the former T Rex frontman was killed in a car crash. The bust, worth around £7000, was commissioned by the T Rex Action Group (TAG) which maintains the Memorial Gardens in Barnes as a shrine for Bolan fans. Bolan’s son Rolan, his brother Harry Feld and former T Rex bandmates Mickey Finn and Paul Fenton were present at the unveiling. "Bolan is an icon. It is amazing how many fans he still has and the influence he has had on music," TAG spokeswoman Fi Warner told reporters. "His songs still sound as good today as when they were released 30 years ago".
