The People have reported that Paul McCartney and wife Heather are devastated by a miscarriage that Heather suffered a few months into a recent pregnancy. The tabloid claims that a source close to the couple said "They had set their sights on celebrating the birth of their second child later this year. But the miscarriage has come as a terrible blow to them. But Heather is telling friends she will try for another child."
The paper reports that Heather, who has in the past spoken publicly about the fact that she has suffered miscarriages on several occasions, visited the Viveka clinic in St John's Wood earlier this year, the same ante-natal clinic she attended whilst expecting daughter Beatrice. A family friend apparently said "She told several people that she was expecting another child. She felt relaxed at the Viveka Clinic because she'd gone through her first pregnancy there."
Another 'friend' was quoted as saying "Heather was down at first. But she is a very brave person and she hasn't given up hope of falling pregnant again despite everything. She's been out with her girl friends quite a lot over the last few months. Paul is there to support her too. They'll both pull through from their upset."
A spokeswoman for Heather dismissed the claims however, and said: "It's not true. There were rumours earlier this year that Heather was pregnant, but they were never confirmed. There was no miscarriage. She would like another child but are both happy and contented with their lives."
In related news, The People also reports that Paul McCartney is to join forces with U2 at the Live 8 concert next weekend. They quote Bob Geldof as saying "It will start with U2 and Paul McCartney in Sergeant Pepper costumes. They will open with 'It was 20 years ago today' which refers to Live Aid 20 years ago."
