Talking of mobile phones, a new report from research monkeys Mintel reckons that us mobile phone users in the UK (well, you mobile phone users, my mobile only just copes with calls and text messages) will spend some £740 million on mobile downloads this year, up from £40 million two years ago. But before you all think that means we're all downloading music to our phones - read the small print. Only 8% of that income will come from music downloads. 33% is from ringtones, 26% from games, 13% screensavers and 9% gambling services. So, good news for mobile firms and ringtone types.
