Bauer Media has announced it is closing the Mojo radio station. In a statement, the publisher said yesterday: "Bauer Media is committed to investing in influential radio brands where distribution costs are cost-effective. Mojo enjoyed a loyal listening audience of 259,000 people. However, as a stand-alone station with no opportunities for distribution growth, we have reluctantly decided that the rising costs of broadcasting on Freeview and Sky now outweigh Mojo Radio's potential audience and revenue growth".
Bauer Radio MD of national brands Mark Story added: "We remain committed to digital radio where we can be satisfied that we have the right brands on the right platforms at the right time. Mojo will continue to deliver excellent content every month through the UK's leading Music Magazine and daily via www.mojo4music.com. We'd like to thank all our loyal Freeview and Sky listeners for their support over the last five years".
