More Meat Loaf cancellations

Meat Loaf has cancelled a Birmingham show and postponed a Manchester date after being ordered by his doctor not to perform.

Meat Loaf called off two more gigs this weekend after walking off stage early at a Newcastle concert last week declaring that that show had been "the last show I may ever do in my life".

As previously reported, Meat Loaf's UK promoter was quick to deny reports that the rocker was considering retirement, but this weekend a Birmingham concert was cancelled at the final hour and then a Manchester concert postponed, with a spokesman explaining that the singer was suffering from acute laryngitis and that he had been "ordered by his doctor not to perform".

Promoters say the Manchester date has already been rescheduled - for 27 Nov. It is unclear if this week's other UK dates, including a Wembley Arena date tomorrow night, will go ahead as planned.
