Mrs Osbourne tops Kerrang! Rock Power poll

Sharon Osbourne tops Kerrang!'s poll of the most important people in rock, ahead of Clear Channel's Brian Becker, producer Rick Ruben and The Darkness' Justin Hawkins.

Sharon Osbourne has topped Kerrang!'s poll of the most important people in rock. She heads up a list which also includes Clear Channel boss Brian Becker, record producer Rick Ruben, The Darkness' Justin Hawkins and Satan - because "the devil has all the best tunes".

The slightly less-than-scientific survey put Osbourne at the top of the chart for her part in guiding the careers of husband Ozzy and her family, and for creating The Osbournes TV show with MTV. The magazine says: "Sharon is the real power behind the Prince of Darkness' throne".

Becker is listed in his capacity as the guy in charge of Clear Channel's US radio operations, and therefore the man behind the biggest radio network in America. He, the magazine argues, has considerable control as to which music reaches a mainstream audience.

Lower down the poll were, among others, controversial comedian and film-maker Michael Moore for "continuing to inspire and inform rock's anti-authoritarian bands", and teen singer Avril Lavigne "for turning a new generation of pop fans into fans of all things loud and objectionable".
