MTV launch up-coming bands CD

MTV in the US is launching a CD of developing artists, sold through its website, with buyers receiving a second copy to give to a friend.

MTV in the US is launching a new CD featuring music from 'developing artists' which viewers will be encouraged to buy via their website. The first edition will hit stores on 25 Feb and feature the Raveonettes, the Exies, Sahara Hotnights, Kardinal Offishall featuring Pharrell Williams, TOK, Maroon 5, and the Format. Apparently viewers who buy the CD will receive two copies in the post – one for themselves and one for a friend. The idea of the second copy is it will promote the scheme, but also cut down on piracy (can see the former, not so convinced by the latter).
