MySpace of the day: Scouting For Girls

CMU praises Scouting For Girls after seeing them at the O2 Wireless Festival, recommending their MySpace page and the track Mountains Of Navaho on iTunes.

Ladies and gentlemen, Scouting For Girls are my new favourite band. This fact was revealed to me on Thursday at the O2 Wireless Festival where I caught this keyboard/bass/drummer trio doing one of those Tiscali Sessions. Now, the fact I'd just drunk two cans of Red Bull after over six months off the fizzy drinks might have been a factor, but I'd not been so excited about a new band in a long time. They're great. And equally so on record and live, so you should check out both. Which is where the MySpace comes in. Firstly you can check out four tracks from them on the MySpace player thingimy, including three demo tracks and the lead track on their new EP, 'It's Not About You'. And then you can get one of the many upcoming gig dates listed here in your diary - including, if you're off to Glasto later this week, a set there. Hurrah. Actually, their best song so far, in my most humble opinion, is 'Mountains Of Navaho', which doesn't feature here, but if you follow the iTunes link at the top of the page you can buy a copy, and it would be a good use of 79 pennies, I tell you. Though if you're extra stingy, they did that one for the Tisacali Session, so I'll let you know if and when it appears on the Tiscali Sessions website and you can check it there. In the meantime, expect much SFG plugging round here in the coming months. Did I mention they're my new favourite band?
