Neil Finn cuts tour dates to attend Paul Hester's funeral

Neil Finn has returned to Australia for Paul Hester's private funeral, with some European Finn Brothers shows rescheduled and others cancelled, and a memorial event planned.

Former Crowded House member Neil Finn headed back to Australia this week following the death of the band's former drummer **Paul

Hester**.

Neil

Finn and brother Tim were on tour in London when the news of

Hester's suicide broke earlier in the week, and have interrupted the tour to return to Melbourne for the private funeral on Sunday.

Some of the Finn Brothers' European shows will be rescheduled but some have been cancelled altogether. Finn paid tribute to

Hester at a concert earlier this week at London's **Royal Albert

Hall**, and fellow musicians Kevin Garant and John Clifforth are in the process of planning a memorial event of music performances and anecdotes about Hester.

Hester, who was found hanged in a tree in Elsternwick Park on Saturday afternoon, was said to have been working on solo material, but had cherished hopes of getting back together with Crowded House.

According to reports the drummer had eight years of therapy for depression after leaving the group. His former long term partner and his daughters recently released a statement saying

"We would like Paul to be remembered as the loving father he was, and for the way in which he celebrated life. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him."
