New acts for the Colosseum

Gloria Estefan, Tim McGraw and Mariah Carey are booked to play Las Vegas's Colosseum at Caesars Palace, and Billboard reports Elton John is in talks for a deal.

The state-of-the-art Las Vegas concert hall The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, which was built for Celine Dion's three year Vegas residency, will play host to some new, high-profile guests.

Gloria Estefan will play seven shows 10-19 Oct. Tim McGraw is due to play 18-19 Jul, and Mariah Carey on 26 Jul. According to Billboard Elton John is in negotiations for a $54m three-year deal that would start in 2004.

John Meglen, co-president of Concerts West, and promoters for the Colosseum said: "We always intended for other artists to play this venue. There are 12 weeks a year when Celine is not playing."

Despite pre-show reports of poor ticket sales, Dion has just completed 65 sell outs at the 4,100-seater venue which grossed a reported $36m. Celine will now take a month off before returning on 6 Aug.
