NME to go FM for a month to take on Xfm

NME Radio will stage month-long FM broadcasts in London and Manchester to compete with GCap's Xfm, led by programming chief Sammy Jacob.

More GCap related stories, and NME's recently launched digital station will go head to head with its main competitor, GCap's Xfm, when it stages two month-long FM broadcasts in London and Manchester. The RSL FM broadcasts will aim to attract listeners away from the GCap alternative rock station, and then persuade them to choose NME Radio via the net or digital TV platforms after the FM broadcasts go off air. NME will be on FM in London from 6 Oct to 2 Nov, and in Manchester from 10 Nov to 7 Dec. As much previously reported, NME Radio is being led by Sammy Jacob, the original programming chief at Xfm back in its independent days.
