North Dakota don't like Bono

North Dakota lawmakers rejected a resolution by Scot Kelch honouring Bono's anti-poverty work, with one legislator confusing him with Sonny Bono.

The state of North Dakota has thrown out a resolution brought by Representative Scot Kelch to honour Bono's work in 'fighting poverty and disease in the Third World'. Fellow political types didn't seem so impressed with Kelch's proposals. Or even realise who he was talking about. Republican Gil Herbel said that, based on the title, he expected the motion to refer to Sonny Bono. He says: "When I saw the resolution, I was looking for Cher's name in there."
