Oasis get New York buskers singing to their tune(s)

Oasis promoted their album 'Dig Out Your Soul' by having selected New York buskers sing its songs, after cancelling their own NYC gig while Noel Gallagher recovers from an attack.

Say what you like about Oasis - and we often do - but I'm liking the marketing that's going on for new album 'Dig Out Your Soul'. Following the announcement they'll be cover mounting sheet music for their new songs with the NME, the band promoted their album stateside on Friday by asking buskers around NYC to sing songs off the new album. Selected buskers got to spend some time with the Gallaghers who talked them through songs like 'Bag It Up', 'The Turning', 'Get Off Your High Horse Lady' and 'The Shock Of The Lightning', and gave them some tips as to "how to sound Oasis". New Yorkers were then entertained to renditions of new Oasis songs all over town. Which, for New York based Oasis fans, is the only chance they'll get to hear them this week, because the band were forced to cancel their own gig in the city because Noel Gallagher is still recovering from that on-stage attack in Canada last week.
