Max Richter has launched new audio workshop SRM Sounds - a partnership between his Studio Richter Mahr and ex-Spitfire Audio CEO Will Evans’ new company Song Athletics. The first product on offer is a sample pack featuring recordings of Studio Richter Mahr’s Steinway grand piano. “We decided to make our own virtual instrument collection, using the wonderful acoustics and technical resources of Studio Richter Mahr”, says Richter. “These instruments have the colours that I love to use to tell the stories I want to tell”.

Massive Attack have announced their first UK gig in five years, which will trial new ways to de-carbonise live shows. It will take place at Clifton Downs in Bristol on 25 Aug next year. “In terms of climate change action there are no excuses left; offsetting, endless seminars and diluted declarations have all been found out - so live music must drastically reduce all primary emissions and take account of fan travel”, says the band’s 3D. “Working with pioneering partners on this project means we can seriously move the dial for major live music events and help create precedents that are immediately available”.

The BBC Radio 6 Music Festival will take place on 7-10 Mar next year, it has been announced. The event will take place in venues around its now permanent home of Greater Manchester. "This year's festival was a triumph - amazing artists, distinctive and world-exclusive performances and a true celebration of Greater Manchester's ever-flourishing music scene”, says 6 Music head Samantha Moy. "Next year we're back to the festival's home to bring you your favourite bands and artists with a 6 Music Festival twist”.

Kasabian have announced that they will play a hometown show at Leicester’s Victoria Park on 6 Jul. “We are truly honoured to be playing Victoria Park in our beloved hometown, with all our people”, say the band. “We cannot wait to get out there and play the biggest party of the summer with you all. See you in the mosh pit”. Tickets go on general sale on Friday.

We Are FSTVL will return to its original home of Central Park in Dagenham for its eleventh edition on 25-26 May next year - shifting over from Upminster and an August date. “This is an exciting year for us as we return to our original spiritual date - we can’t wait to welcome our FSTVL family to Central Park over the May bank holiday”, says festival boss James Cohen. Acts set to play next year include Chase & Status and Eric Prydz.
