P Diddy appeals in child support case

Sean Combs, aka P Diddy, will appeal a New York ruling requiring him to pay $21,782 a month in child support to Misa Hylton Brim.

And let's stay in the pop courts. Sean Combs, aka P Diddy, is planning to appeal against a New York State Supreme Court ruling that says he must pay $21,782 (£11,910) per month to support his 11-year-old son. The payments to babymother Misa Hylton Brim were approved last month, and are the highest child support rates awarded in New York state history. The rapper, who says he already pays for his son's health insurance, school fees, holidays and clothing, claims that the case is an attack on his character. P Diddy said: "It's not about money. I don't care how much money I have. I do take care of my child to my fullest, that's something that should be rewarded. It's not something that should be handled this way."

Ms Hylton-Brim's lawyer explained his client's position, saying "His claim that $5,112 (£2,800) should do the trick is obviously unreasonable, was not upheld by any court anywhere, and I dare say is reason enough to explain why she felt she needed to go to a court in the first place," adding "I don't think anybody has ever indicated in court and otherwise that he is not a good father and he doesn't care about his son."
