'American Idol' judge Paula Abdul has released a statement in reference to the previously reported news that a fan of hers who once auditioned for the TV talent show had committed suicide near the singer and TV star's home. Abdul said: "I am deeply shocked and saddened at what transpired yesterday. My heart and prayers go out to her family".
It's believed that thirty year old Paula Goodspeed, who was discovered in a car accompanied by pictures of and CDs by Abdul, died from an overdose, but an official cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
When she appeared on 'American Idol' back in 2005 she told the host Ryan Seacrest that she was a fan of Abdul's, saying that she had done life size drawings of her, but when she sang for the judges, they laughed and gave her performance a mercilessly poor review. Her parents had reported her missing in the hours before her body was discovered, and were concerned that she might be a danger to herself.
