Pete Tong says MySpace is the music industry's Amazon

DJ Pete Tong says MySpace is regaining its fashionable appeal and is now fundamental to the music industry, comparing its role in music to Amazon's role in books.

DJ Pete Tong has been declaring his love for MySpace, and opined that the site is now a fundamental part of the music industry. He said: "On the web, fashion dominates and MySpace was hot and then Bebo was hot for a minute and then Facebook is now hot and I think the great thing about MySpace is, almost like a great restaurant or a great club, it's past its fashionable phase and now I think it's really finding its feet. I think as a music application it's really, really strong again. I don't think it ever lost it but I think the interest after people have looked at everything else and they've kind of gone back to MySpace. As Amazon is to books MySpace is to music".
