Peter Hook, Mani and Andy Rourke form Freebass, looking for a singer

Peter Hook, Mani and Andy Rourke have formed a new band called Freebass, which has twenty tracks ready and is now looking for a singer.

New Order's Peter Hook, Primal Scream's Mani and The Smiths' lovely Andy Rourke have got together to form a new band, and they are looking for a singer. Hook says the band is called Freebass, and will see all three bass-players playing bass, not altogether unsurprisingly. Hook says: "The interesting thing about Freebass is that Mani and I are very much live-based. It seems obvious really that we'd get together. Whether that bodes trouble or not, I don't know. It was just one drunken night and I floated the idea. And basically what gave me the most impetus was that everyone laughed. Three bass players on an album - everyone absolutely pissed themselves."

They apparently have twenty tracks ready to go - and now they just need a vocalist. Maybe they could get one of the X-Factor finalists to do it.
