Phish confirm split

Phish will split up at the end of their upcoming summer tour, with vocalist Trey Anastasio saying the band chose to end while still on a high note.

Popular American "jam band" Phish have announced they will split up at the end of their upcoming summer tour. Writing on the band's website vocalist Trey Anastasio explained: "We love Phish and the Phish audience too much to allow it to drag on beyond the point of vibrancy."

He added that all the band agreed that: "Phish had run its course and that we should end it now while it's still on a high note. We realised that we were faced with the opportunity to graciously step away in unison, united in our friendship and our feelings of gratitude. It's been an amazing and incredible journey."

The band will release their final album - 'Undermind' - on 15 Jun before embarking on a US tour.
