Piracy plugin made to accompany Amazon MP3

A Firefox plug-in reportedly linked Amazon's UK MP3 store to Pirate Bay databases, offering illegal downloads of artists shown on Amazon pages, before stopping working.

According to Digital Music News, there is a Firefox plug-in doing the rounds which cross-references Amazon's MP3 download store - which launched in the UK this week - with the Pirate Bay databases which track illegal sources of music. It means that as users surf the Amazon website they are given the option to illegally download unlicensed music from the artists that appear in the main Amazon page, all at the click of a button. DMN adds that the plug-in stopped working not long after it had gone live, seemingly having been hacked from an unknown source, though now the technology is out there that allows non-legit services to piggy back on web browser based e-stores like Amazon, others are likely to copy. My favourite bit of this story is the name of the piracy plug-in - Pirates Of The Amazon.
