Planet Rock added to Freesat, David Jenson joins

Planet Rock, now independent of GCap, joins the Freesat network from 16 September, and David Jenson joins with a weekend show.

The newly independent (from GCap) Planet Rock has announced it will appear on the Freesat network, the satellite version of the no-subscription-required Freeview digital telly service. The rock station will be available via the digital TV platform from 16 Sep.

The new outpost for the station comes at the same time as some new additions to its schedule, including the arrival of that David Jenson chap, who will present a weekend show called 'Another Dimension', a play on the fact Jenson's first ever radio show on Radio Luxembourg in the late sixties was called 'Jensen's Dimension'.

Commenting on his station's arrival on Freesat, new Planet Rock owner Malcolm Bluemel said: "Broadcasting on Freesat is all part of Planet Rock's expansion plans to build its audience across the UK and allow more opportunities to hear the station".

Jenson, meanwhile, told reporters: "I'm really looking forward to 'Another Dimension' on Planet Rock. It's going to be fun reviving my first ever radio Luxembourg series by showcasing rarely heard songs by significant artists".
