Polish piracy server closed down

A Polish server allegedly used to post pre-release music has been shut down by police after a raid, with two people arrested.

In related news, a computer server at a Polish university allegedly used for illegalling posting music on the internet, often before official release dates, has been closed down after a raid by local police. The 'HPN server' was at Wroclaw Technical University. Two people have also been arrested in relation to alleged copyright infringement on the server. We know this because of a statement issued by the International Federation Of The Phonographic Industry this weekend which said this: "People that post pre-release material onto the Internet are without doubt harming the music industry; one posting on a topsite [like HPN] can see an album appear in thousands of different locations across the internet in a matter of hours. The industry is highly focused on the problem of pre-release piracy, and these actions in Poland will not be the last of their kind".
