Pollstar predicts millions in losses from US blackout gig cancellations

Pollstar predicts that gig cancellations caused by last week's North East America power cut will cost the live music industry millions of dollars.

US live music industry trade magazine Pollstar has predicted that gig cancellations due to the power-cut in North East America last week will cost the industry millions.

Gary Bongiovanni of Pollstar said: "If you think of the size of the markets affected... it's huge. And it's not just those cities, but bands in those cities who were not able to go to the next city for a show, even when the power was back on. Even with rescheduled dates, you are looking at millions in losses and significant out-of-pocket expenses ... probably the biggest since September 11."
