Popworld was just too slow, Zane says

Alex Zane tells Digital Spy that Channel 4's Popworld flopped because its one hour format was too slow for viewers, not because of the presenters.

Alex Zane says the reason Channel 4's pop show Popworld flopped was because it was just too slow a format for these zany kids of today, and not, as everyone had assumed, because he and co-presenter Alexa Chung were a bit shit.

Asking about the decline of the show after they took over from legendary presenters Simon Amstell and Miquita Oliver, Zane told Digital Spy: "I think it was the pace, to be honest... Popworld was an hour long, it was very slow and it had no live audience. And it was one of those shows where you really had to want to watch it - it wasn't wallpaper TV. But I think Alexa and I felt that, at the time Channel 4 decided enough was enough, the people who'd given us a hard time at the beginning were really changing their opinion".
