Recording royalties body PPL last week announced it was joining forces with an organisation called Urban Concepts to support its anti-gun Don't Trigger campaign, which aims to highlight and tackle the growing gun crime problems in certain parts of Britain. PPL will host a showcase of songs that have been recorded for a special Don't Trigger 2007 album at their first ever Annual Performer Meeting on 12 Nov.
Confirming the partnership, Urban Concepts founder Raymond Stevenson told CMU: "We applaud PPL for recognising that music can be a great tool to address some of the issues that blight our communities. We hope other music industry organisations also embrace the Don't Trigger Campaign and help spread the positive message".
PPL's Director Of Performer Affairs Keith Harris added: "I was approached by Raymond Stevenson in February this year to see if PPL might get involved. The Performer Board, whom I would like to thank, unanimously supported the move - keen as everyone was to show how music can be used as a positive influence on young people".
PPL is launching an Annual Performer Meeting following its merger with other performer royalty bodies PAMRA and AURA which means that PPL, which once represented just record labels, now also represents individual performers.
