PRS appoint new deputy chair

The Performing Rights Society has appointed Mute Song general manager Andrew King as Deputy Chairman from 1 Jan 2007, succeeding Nigel Elderton.

The Performing Rights Society - PRS to their close friends - has announced the appointment of Andrew King to the role of Deputy Chairman. King, General Manager of Mute Song, will take up the role on 1 Jan 2007, taking over from Nigel Elderton, who has completed his maximum allowable term in the job. King, who has worked in artist management and music publishing for the best part of forty years, has been GM at Mute Song since 1992.

Confirming the appointment, PRS Chairman Ellis Rich told reporters: "I am really delighted at Andrew's appointment, and have no doubt that he will give PRS the benefit of his extensive experience and knowledge of the music industry. Knowing Andrew as I do, I am quite sure that he will never ever be 'mute' during his tenure and I look forward to working with him".
