So, as the R Kelly child porn trial gets underway this week, we won't get to see those sealed court documents relating to the case, or get any official comment from lawyers involved in it, after the judge overseeing the affair refused that previously reported motion from news organisations to publish the court records and transcripts, and to lift the gagging order on those involved in the trial. Judge Vincent Gaughan said he wasn't trying to inhibit the press, but that now wasn't the time to give them access to these files, adding that he had refused the news firm's motion in a bid to ensure a fair trial.
As much previously reported, R&B star R Kelly is accused of videotaping himself having sex with an underage girl. He denies all the charges against him. Jury selection is now complete, and opening arguments are expected to begin tomorrow.
