Radio 1 DJ Grooverider could face up to four years in prison in Dubai after being stopped at customs with cannabis and pornography on 23 November.

Radio 1 drum n bass DJ Grooverider could face up to four years in jail for carrying cannabis and porn into Dubai.

He was booked to DJ in the UAE city on 23 Nov but was pulled over at customs. There are strict laws against drugs and porn in the state. The promoter of the show where Grooverider was due to take to the decks has told reporters he informed the DJ of the strict rules that operate in Dubai. Ram Nath said: "I sent a fax to him explaining all of our laws, including what he could and could not bring into the country. Unfortunately, he was booked by police before he got out of the airport".

As previously reported, Grammy award winning music producer Dallas Austin was prosecuted for taking cocaine into Dubai last year, and also faced four years inside, but he was pardoned by the emirate's Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
