Robbie Williams misses Take That documentary preview

Robbie Williams skipped a preview screening of the Take That documentary, which reportedly shows him saying the band saved him from a life of crime and drugs.

That's Robbie, not the Pharrell we were talking of earlier, obviously. Mr Williams has refused to join his former band mates at a preview screening of that forthcoming Take That documentary. He's presumably very busy just now, what with the new album and all, so I don't think the ex-Thats should get too upset, but according to the Sunday Mirror's renta-source, they were: "Robbie announced he wasn't coming. The rest of the band were gutted but felt the show had to go on."

The documentary (Robbie turned up to actually make it) is screened this Wednesday. In it Williams reportedly says that Take That saved him from a life of crime, drug addiction and ignominy, as he had always had a drug problem, and felt he would have fallen into theft or dealing to feed his habit had he not been steered away from it by the moderate habits of his bandmates. "Before Take That I'd done acid, speed and smoked a lot of weed so I was sort of heading into that direction anyway," he said. "In all seriousness I would have been a dealer or a burglar and that's the truth because I would not have had the money to fund my addiction. I'd have probably been in jail now. But for the other lads it wasn't really part of their life, other than we used to like to smoke weed and then giggle."
