Rock Band and Guitar Hero stuff

Electronic Arts will reportedly release Rock Band 2 in September for Xbox, while Aerosmith have launched their own Guitar Hero edition, featuring songs from their career and influences.

Games makers Electronic Arts will reportedly release the sequel to their popular 'pretend to play a guitar' game Rock Band in September, initially for Xbox. Confirming the next generation of the game was in development, Alex Rigopulos of the studio that created it, Harmonix, told reporters recently: "As successful as the original 'Rock Band' continues to be, we've now had the benefit of the last eight months to listen to our fans' requests and to build upon that foundation. 'Rock Band 2' is a second-generation band game that will elevate the music game experience to the next level".

Meanwhile, Aerosmith were in New York at the weekend to officially launch their own edition of rival pretend-to-play game 'Guitar Hero'. The special edition features songs from throughout the band's career, as well as music from their inspirations and collaborators, including Joan Jett and Run DMC. The game officially went of sale late last week and was celebrated by the band at the party at New York's Hard Rock Café at the weekend.
