Rock Band launches first full album download

Rock Band will make Judas Priest's 1982 album 'Screaming For Vengeance' available as a full download for the first time, priced at $14.99.

We're all aware that one of the biggest success stories in music in the last eighteen months comes from the video game sector right? We are talking, of course, about the Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchises. Which is good news for the video game companies flogging these games (which include MTV Games in Rock Band's case) but possibly also for the record companies, given the increasing popularity of the download function where gamers can download new tracks to play along to - especially as the makers of both seem keen to develop this bit of their games. A range of rock tracks have been available for download via the PlayStation Network and X-box Marketplace, but the makers of Rock Band have just announced that this week they will make a full album available for the first time - Judas Priest's 1982 long player 'Screaming For Vengeance'. The album will cost $14.99, while each track can be bought for $1.99. Presumably people in all the labels with music of the rockier kind sitting in their catalogues are looking into the potential of all this.
